He is the Founder of the Shakhmardan Yessenov Science and Education Foundation, Kazakhstan’s leading scientific education charity.

Galimzhan Yessenov is passionate about sport, and organizes a number of Central Asia’s largest mass participatory sporting events, most notably the Almaty Marathon. He has also been closely involved with a range of other organisations including the Chess Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Triathlon Federation and the Central Asian Triathlon Association.

In 2023 and 2024, he was named as one of Kazakhstan's 50 most influential businessmen by Forbes Kazakhstan.
